Anis & Reinhold

OWNERS of Villa kelapa

Following decades in hospitality managing some of the finest hotels around the world, Anis & Reinhold relocated back to Malaysia in 2012 to embark on their dream of running their own independent destination. Both fell in love with the beautiful island of Langkawi on one of their visits, made Langkawi their home and have never looked back.

They completed a two year build on their first property, Ranis Lodge in 2016 and have been welcoming guests for many years together with their young daughter. In 2021, they fell in love with Villa Kelapa and acquired the property from its founders, Michaela & Volker.

Villa Kelapa is a collection of new and renovated traditional Malay houses on 1.6 acres in the heart of Langkawi. Initially created as a tropical getaway for friends and family from the founders, the collection of villas opened to a select few guests in November 2018. The resort was built using many recycled materials, opting for low impact strategies wherever possible to minimise the effect on the environment.

All villas were developed with the intention to offer a product that is both steeped in the rich tradition of the island but at the same time, offering the luxury of today’s finest resorts. Villa Kayu and Villa Tinggi are 100+ years old meticulously restored traditional Malay wood kampung style houses whereas Villa Batu and Villa Buluh are newly built in the same traditional style. All villas feature generous verandas, modern kitchens complete with accessories, bathrooms, comfortable beds and of course amenities such as air conditioning, advanced drinking water filtration system, WiFi and safety deposit box to name a few.

The property is nestled on the edge of the paddy fields which are typical for the island, offers stunning views of the Mat Chinchang mountain range and features leisure offerings second to none with a stunning saltwater infinity pool and bar area. Last and certainly not least, Villa Kelapa enjoys the same world class hospitality and services guests have been enjoying at Ranis Lodge for years, both the privilege and pleasure to be hosted by Anis & Reinhold.

Beaches of Langkawi

Beaches of Langkawi

What to expect

Langkawi is a fairly relaxed and unspoiled island, with an extremely friendly, mainly Malay, population. Villa Kelapa is centrally located in the green heart of the island among rice padi fields and rubber trees. It is a 20 minute drive away from the popular tourist beaches of Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah. For those seeking more quiet spots, there are other beautiful white sandy beaches in the area that are easily accessible by car or motorbike. Villa Kelapa is only a 15 min drive from Langkawi Airport, and a 15 min drive from Kuah town - the capital of Langkawi. We recommend our guests to either rent a car or motorbike, or to use taxi or GrabCar (similar to Uber) service. Those feeling more adventurous can make use of our pedal bikes in order to explore the island’s attractions. Don't miss out on an early morning or late afternoon walk over the rice paddies.

Attractions

The best attractions in Langkawi make the most of the natural landscapes, expansive parks, and iconic structures that no first-time visitor should skip on their travel itinerary. As one of Malaysia’s best-known and most popular beach destination, this enchanting island is home to historical attractions, a great variety of restaurants, diving opportunities, nightlife and shopping. Langkawi’s pristine beaches – such as Datai Bay, Pantai Cenang, and Tanjung Rhu – are also rated among the best in the world. Due to the size of the island, Langkawi’s attractions are best explored by rented vehicle. There are a few sights that you definitely need to check out before leaving the island, such as the Langkawi Sky Bridge and cable car, the Underwater World Langkawi, its highest peak Gunung Raya, the Pulau Payar Marine Park or Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls. Whether you opt for island hopping or mangrove and jet ski tours, zip line or flying fox adventures or for a stroll in the Langkawi Wildlife Park, there is something for everyone to explore.
